WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL
Summit Academy Toledo Learning Center is dedicated to educating all students, however, specializing in the education of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Asperger's Syndrome. We adhere to the philosophy that every student can learn, given the appropriate instruction for that child.
Summit Academy Toledo Learning Center serves children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. We have small class sizes with only 18 students per classroom. Each classroom is staffed with a Highly Qualified Teacher and Instructional Assistant. In several cases, there are two HQT teachers in the classroom co-teaching. All students receive Art, Music and Martial Arts throughout the school year. Our school hours are 8:00am to 3:00 p.m. Please note that this school year students will be allowed to enter the school at 7:30 a.m to begin eating breakfast.
DISMISSAL PARKING
I want to remind everyone that if you park your car on Martha or Kane St. to pick up your child, you need to make sure you do not block any driveways what so ever. We have received numerous phone calls from the residents of the neighborhood letting us know that their driveways are being blocked by cars and they are unable to leave their homes or return to their homes. Please be respectful to the residents of this neighborhood and do not park in front of their driveways. Also, please do not stop your car in the middle of the street to pick up your child. This is a safety concern for everyone and it backs up the traffic. Make sure you pull up and park in an appropriate parking spot on the street.
ATTENTION GRADE 5 PARENTS
Each student in the 5th grade received a permission slip to participate in a 5th Grade Ohio Modified Assessment Pilot to help in the development of additional assessment approaches for students with IEP’s. Please be sure to fill this slip out and return it to Mrs. Ruby as soon as possible.
REPORT CARDS
You should have received your child's report card, they were dispersed on Wednesday, January 25. If you have not received the report card to this point, please contact the main office.
PTST NEWS
The next PTST meeting of the 2011-2012 school year will be Wednesday, February, 1, 2011. The meeting time will be 3:15 in the teachers’ lounge.
POSITIVE BEHAVIOR SUPPORTS
The Positive Behavior Supports monthly incentive will take place on Friday, January 27 for the students who have earned enough punches (57) on their PBS cards. This month’s incentive is Pick Your Party. Each classroom will pick their own activities to do in their classrooms.
PENNIES FOR PATIENTS
Our students will once again participate in the Pennies for Patients program. This is a community service project we have participated in for three years. All money collected will be donated to the Northwest Ohio Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The money collected will be spent on patient and community services, research, public health and professional education. If we are able to collect $350 as a school, the top classroom will earn a pizza party.
PARENT/TEACHER
CONFERENCES
Our second round of parent teacher conferences will take place on February 15 and 16 from 3-7:30 each day. Students will be at school both of those days. Feel free to send in a note now to your child's teacher to let them know which day and time works out best for you. Teachers will also be sending home a sign up form for you.
